Welcome to our selection of holiday houses. They really are rather special and very different from the mass of modern bungalows that blight parts of Ireland’s landscape.
All our houses are in lovely locations and are full of character and charm. Some houses are small and ideal for just a couple. Others are large and suitable for a large party.
Many are of historical or architectural importance. Many are attached to great country houses, some with wonderful gardens and some in the middle of great private estates. And some are country houses in their own right.
These special vacation properties, available for self-catering rentals, are all highly individual. They have all been restored or sympathetically converted to the highest standards, and boast stylish interiors, decent heating systems, well-equipped kitchens and comfortable beds.

Explore the lower stretches of the beautiful river Blackwater in an open canoe with Denis Murray, founder and owner of Blackwater Boating. Denis is from Cappoquin and his personal knowledge of the river and its surrounds is unrivalled. The canoe trips can be tailored to both young and old and to all levels of fitness. Steeped in history, the lower stretch of the river Blackwater is stunningly beautiful and totally unspoiled. Many magnificent stately homes and castles flank the river and there is abundant wildlife on the river to enjoy. Full safetly instruction and equipment is provided and the duration of the trip in four to five hours. Head out on the river after breakfast and when you return to Ballyvolane House that evening, stretch out in the bath and after your soak, feast on delicious food and wines in the grand dining room. Enjoy late breakfast the next morning (served till noon). Ideal for groups.

A highly enjoyable five-hour hike from the foothills of the Galtee Mountains right up to the summit at 919 metres.

With the fishing season now open and what better time to either learn to hone your skills in the craft of fly fishing for salmon! Ballyvolane House is now offering a fantastic opportunity to learn to fly fish on the renowned river Blackwater with one of its most experienced and talented guides.
The course is based at Ballyvolane House and Blackwater Salmon Fishery. It is designed for up to 4 participants under the tuition of Norman Gillett, who is both a qualified instructor holding the Salmon & Trout Association National Instructors Certificate (STANIC) and a member of the Game Angling Instructors' Association (GAIA). All aspects of modern fly-fishing and spinning techniques are covered but emphasis is placed on as much practical fishing as possible.
